Mid-Day Report

U. S. Airways' unsolicited bid for Delta lifted the markets higher during the midday with the Dow rising 43 points to 12,261. Nasdaq gained 17 points to 2447.

On the upside

(ZVUE) HandHeld Entertainment acquired Dorks.com for $1.5 million.

(DAKT) Daktronics reported higher second quarter earnings and forecast third quarter results above expectations.

(ARM) ArvinMeritor blamed an impairment charge for widening fourth quarter losses but the company forecast fiscal 2007 results above expectations.

On the downside

(TRPS) Tripos disappointed with a wider third quarter loss.

(JBL) Jabil Circuit will restate all its 2005 financial reports after reviewing its stock option practices.

(TWB) Earnings rose for Tween Brands but revenue fell short of expectations.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 5 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly the same on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks climbed 7 points to 792.
